The US pharmaceutical company Pfizer and its German partner Biontech have filed a counterclaim against Moderna in a Boston federal court.
They are thus starting a counterattack against the US company.
Moderna sued the Mainz-based vaccine manufacturer and the US pharmaceutical giant in August.
He accuses the competitors of having violated his patents in the production of corona vaccines.
According to its own statements, Moderna had already developed corresponding technologies before the pandemic.
Pfizer and Biontech think that's nonsense.
They're asking for a Moderna lawsuit to be dismissed.
To this end, the court should determine, to their knowledge, that Moderna's patents are invalid.
The companies have not yet responded to requests for comment.
Moderna and Biontech are considered pioneers in the new mRNA technology on which the corona vaccines of both sides are based and which brought them billions in revenue.
Moderna, Pfizer and Biontech are also involved in patent disputes with other vaccine producers in the United States.
