"Bild" TV boss Claus Strunz and "Bild am Sonntag" boss Alexandra Würzbach will remain part of the editorship of Germany's largest tabloid newspaper, contrary to initial speculation.
According to SPIEGEL information, "Bild" boss Johannes Boie announced this on Wednesday in an internal editorial conference.
The process is amazing, after all, the possible departure of the two executives has been discussed internally for days, and there has never been any official confirmation.
SPIEGEL reported last Friday that Robert Schneider, who currently heads the magazine Focus, is to strengthen the Bild editor-in-chief.
Würzbach and Strunz, on the other hand, should probably leave the house.
For days Springer did not comment on these "personnel speculations" - neither to the workforce nor to other media.
Leadership chaos and power vacuum
Internally, "Bild" complained about a "power vacuum" that had arisen as a result of these reports, and there was talk of leadership chaos.
The decision that has now been made is intended to end this chaos for now.
Everything will remain as it is, with one small change: Würzbach and Strunz will in future report directly to Johannes Boie as editor-in-chief, not to the CEO Mathias Döpfner.
The leadership force under Boie is now larger than originally thought.
In the future, Robert Schneider will be the fourth in the team to manage the operational business of »Bild«.
It is currently unclear when it will begin.
