Lufthansa and Berlin-Brandenburg Airport (BER) intend to file claims for damages against the »Last Generation« activist group.
Specifically, it is about the incident of November 24 at BER: Six members of the climate protest movement between the ages of 20 and 32 had penetrated the security area of the airport.
"Berlin-Brandenburg Airport is seriously considering suing the so-called last generation for damages," said a spokesman.
Lufthansa is considering claims for damages due to “impairments to our flight operations”.
According to the company, 14 flights operated by Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian and Eurowings had to be canceled and 19 were delayed or diverted.
The activists had cut through a fence with the wire cutters they had brought with them in order to gain access to the secured and guarded apron.
Federal police and fire brigade forces released the protesters stuck to the asphalt.
The federal police took the women and men into custody.
Lufthansa says that claims for damages will also be examined in future “protest actions of this kind”.
On Thursday, members of the group again caused problems at the airports in Munich and Berlin.
According to SPIEGEL information, six activists at the outer fence of BER were arrested by police forces on Thursday of this week.
Two more got stuck on the taxiway.
In Munich the situation was more massive.
Three people were found at the airport's perimeter fence;
four others had stuck themselves on the runway in the northern runway area.
Flight operations on the northern runway had to be stopped and could only be resumed at 9.38 a.m.
The southern runway of the airport was not affected.
The "last generation" calls for more consistent measures against the climate crisis.
