Animal experiments: Air France will stop transporting monkeys in mid-2023

In a letter addressed to the deputy Aymeric Caron (LFI), the airline declares to stop the transport of guinea pig primates in a social and environmental approach.


Air France will stop transporting monkeys for laboratory experiments from mid-2023, we learned on Wednesday from concordant sources.

The airline had already announced last June that it would eventually stop transporting primates, "

In a letter addressed to the deputy (LFI) of Paris Aymeric Caron, at the forefront of the defense of the animal cause, Air France indicated that "

the complete cessation of (its) operations

" of transport of primates for research laboratories "

will take place no later than June 2023

”, once a “

transition period

” has elapsed.

The content of this letter, revealed by the services of Aymeric Caron and the animal rights association One Voice, was confirmed to AFP on Wednesday by Air France.

One Voice hailed in a press release "

The long-term campaign of One Voice (since 1996) and its partners Action for Primates (UK), Stop Camarles (ES) and Peta (USA) for Air France to stop taking part in the transport of primates to laboratories has finally paid

Animal experimentation has no longer been allowed to be carried out on first generation primates within the European Union since November of this year.
