Christmas and New Year: why foie gras is so expensive this year

The price of foie gras has more than doubled over one year, due to the increase in the price of cereals used to feed animals, but



36.9 euros for 300 grams Labeyrie at Monoprix, 32.5 euros for half a kilo “Our regions have talent” at Leclerc, 22.99 euros for 280 grams Montfort at Auchan… Foie gras lovers this year are bound to go note: it has never been so expensive as on the eve of the holidays.

In some stores, as Michel-Edouard Leclerc, the boss of the eponymous brand, warned on Monday, we even expect “gaps” in the shelves as Christmas approaches.
