Over 50 years of experience

Founded in 1971 and based in Hochfelden, Alsace, La Case aux Epices was a company specializing in the packaging of spices and sauces for industry and catering.

It was bought in 2013 by Saveurs & Sauces, another local player who is also an expert in the manufacture of sauces for catering professionals.

The two companies merged in 2014 under Idhéa.

In 2016, the new company arouses interest beyond the Swiss border for its know-how and versatility in the manufacture of sauces.

The Migros group, a conglomerate of Swiss cooperative companies in the retail and food industry, takes the majority of the shares in Idhéa.

The company then took on a new dimension with the manufacture of sauces for mass distribution;

it must invest to grow and meet the needs of Migros.

In 2018, the Migros group became the sole shareholder of Idhéa.

New proposal: A vast assortment, four brands and strong ambitions

With its two historic brands, La Case aux Epices and Saveurs & Sauces, Idhéa offers a wide range intended exclusively for catering professionals.

Building on its new experience acquired in the manufacture of products for mass distribution in Switzerland, Idhéa launched La Fraîch' Touch in 2020, its brand of salad dressings and dipping sauces.

In 2021, Idhéa's portfolio is expanding again thanks to the acquisition of the frifrench brand, a major emblematic player in the salad dressings market in Switzerland.

But the company does not stop there;

the end of 2022 is marked by a new presentation of its institutional brand Idhéa and by the entry of Saveurs & Sauces into a new era with a new brand message, a redesigned presentation and an overhaul of its assortment.

Today, Idhéa markets more than 200 recipes for sauces, mustards, marinades, ketchup, Asian sauces, available in more than 50 different packaging formats ranging from 0.8 g pods to one-ton containers.

Thanks to its 200 employees, 5 production lines and 26 packaging lines, Idhéa produces 18,000 tons of sauce per year, for a turnover of around 43 million euros.

Among its customers, the company counts the big names in chain catering and its distributors (O'Tacos, McDonald's, Courtepaille, Pomona, Sysco, Pro à pro, Transgourmet, etc.), the food industry (LDC, Charal, Sodebo, Bonduelle, etc. and mass distribution (Auchan, Leclerc, Carrefour, Super U, etc.).

A committed and responsible company

Aware of environmental imperatives and the need for a balanced diet, Idhéa defends strong values, translated into concrete commitments.

It is all the more committed as it is the subsidiary of the Migros group in whose DNA sustainable development has been inscribed for many decades;

so much so that it has repeatedly earned it the qualification of "most environmentally friendly retailer (ISS-Oekom 2019 ranking)".

By 2025, Idhéa plans to reduce and/or eliminate additives and preservatives from its recipes to achieve the “100% clean label” objective.

The company is also working to reduce the weight of packaging by 5%, to use 50% recycled raw materials, to use at least 60% of raw materials from renewable materials and finally,

to achieve 100% recyclable packaging.

Idhéa has also committed to using exclusively free-range eggs from mid-2023 for all of its recipes.

Finally, at the end of 2022, Idhéa obtained ISO 14001 certification, an environmental management system standard.
