The Rhône Valley is betting on producing more wine

A "coast" to go up the slope?

While the world market for still wine (without bubbles) has been on a downward trend for five years, Inter Rhône, the interprofession bringing together 23 AOCs from the Rhône Valley, intends to increase its production volumes.

A challenge, while the sales of this interprofession including in particular Côtes du Rhône, Ventoux, Gigondas, Condrieu or even Costières de Nîmes, have decreased (- 1.9% per year on average for ten years).

And a strategic change.

In recent years, these vineyards had bet on moving upmarket.

This strategy enabled them to increase their turnover (+4.1% per year on average for ten years), with the rise in prices more than offsetting the decline in the quantities produced.

From now on, the interprofession with 635 million euros in turnover also wants to increase its volumes, while maintaining a quality policy.
