“The Livret A account has already seen its rate increase significantly, since at the beginning of this year again, last January, we were at 0.5%.

Since August, we have been at 2%, ”recalled François Villeroy de Galhau.

“The next meeting is at the beginning of February, we will do the calculation in January,” he also told Apolline de Malherbe.

The decision will be up to Bruno Le Maire, Minister of Economy and Finance, he specifies, but this increase "should be significant".

The popular savings account also concerned

The Governor of the Banque de France also announced, on the same date, an increase in the popular savings account (LEP) rate, which now stands at 4.6%.

An increase in remuneration which was to be even greater than that of the booklet A. According to him, the LEP is an “even more interesting product (..) accessible to 15 million French people: those who have modest incomes or who are weakly taxed".

To open a LEP in 2022, you must indeed present a reference tax income not exceeding 20,297 euros for one share, plus 5,420 euros per additional half share (Editor’s note: a child represents a half tax share).

François Villeroy de Galhau assures him, "there are millions and millions of French people who would have the right to this popular savings account and who do not open one".

“It's an extremely interesting product,” he insists.

(…) It is the most interesting product for savers, those who have small savings today.
