The area cultivated with wheat so far has reached 791,541 hectares, of which 349,398 hectares are irrigated and 442,143 hectares are rainfed, out of a total planned area of 6.1 million hectares, according to the Director of Plant Production at the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Eng. Ahmed Haidar.
Haidar explained that the area cultivated with barley has reached 893,811 hectares so far, and the amount of seeds distributed has reached 35,158 tons of wheat, 1,633 tons of barley, 5.3 tons of lentils and 6 tons of beans.
Haidar confirmed that 8,025 hectares of the potato crop were cultivated for the fall harvest out of the total plan of 12,208 hectares, in the governorates of Daraa, Homs, Hama, Idlib and Aleppo, pointing out that the area cultivated with the sugar beet crop has so far reached 930 hectares out of the organized area of 1,555 hectares, and that the amount of Beets sold from agricultural banks amounted to 6756 kg.
Haidar pointed out that the area cultivated with food legume crops amounted to 43,134 hectares, including 29,088 hectares of lentils, 325 hectares of chickpeas, 12,530 hectares of broad beans and 1,191 hectares of peas, while the area cultivated with winter medicinal and aromatic crops amounted to 2,408 hectares of cumin, anise, black seed, coriander and others, while 13,606 tons were marketed. of the cotton crop so far.
