With the aim of spreading the culture of beekeeping within homes in cities, Engineer Sayed Shawa and Dr. Essam Odeh worked on designing and implementing a home beehive with medicinal and nutritional uses, and anyone can benefit from it.

Shawa explained to SANA that the hive consists of a wooden box with exposed glass through which the bees can be seen inside the hive, and it is equipped with several openings, the first for the bees to exit and enter through a tube that extends through the wall of the house’s room to the outside, and the second opening for expelling the bees to be used in the treatment of bee stings.

He added: As for the third hole, a device for inhaling the air of the beehive, which works on battery or electricity, is connected to it, and it consists of a small fan that pulls air from inside the hive through a tube connected to a mask that is placed on the person’s mouth to help him treat some respiratory problems, and anyone can use it.

Engineer Shawa pointed out that the hive was designed and implemented with three sizes of four, eight and ten tires, in addition to a developed hive with an upper cabinet that relies on bee heat to produce bee bread, pollen with fermented honey without decreasing other hive products, which is a treatment for some diseases such as colon and stomach problems and vitamin deficiency. B 12, indicating that production varies according to the number of tires inside the hive, the type of pasture (flowers) and their location, and it reaches 10 kilograms per year, in addition to the possibility of expelling a new hive from it every spring.

On the idea of ​​designing a home hive, Dr. Odeh explained that he works in the field of treatment with bee stings, and he is one of the founders of the Syrian Association of Bee Medicine and Beekeeping to take care of treatment through bees in a specialized manner, so he worked on implementing this hive to put it in the clinic and the home, pointing to the importance of spreading the culture of beekeeping Because of its nutritional and medical importance.

And Odeh indicated that the products of the hive, such as honey, propolis, pollen, air of the hive, bee venom and bee bread, in addition to the sound of the bee, is an integrated pharmacy located within the home hive that does not need experience in dealing with it except for the help of beekeepers during the honey harvesting stage, indicating that 50 hives were produced and sold. households in Damascus and its countryside during the past two years.
