Oil prices rose by more than two dollars a barrel, following a drop in US crude inventories.
Reuters reported that Brent crude futures for February delivery rose $2.21, or 2.76 percent, to $82.20 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose $2.06, or 2.7 percent, to $78.29.
According to data from the US Energy Information Administration, US crude inventories fell by 5.89 million barrels, compared to estimates of a decline of 1.66 million barrels.
