Senior entrepreneurs in the high-tech industry, including those who have signed some of the biggest unicorns racing in Israel, addressed a direct letter to the Prime Minister-designate, Benjamin Netanyahu.

What made the seniors jump?

Laws or amendments to laws that, in their opinion, will increase discrimination and hatred based on sex, origin or sexual orientation.

About 20 entrepreneurs signed the letter, among them only one woman, to teach us that even in places where progressive values are miraculous, there is still a long way to gender equality (for example).

"The winds blowing these days could set us back light years," they write and point out that recently they are hearing more and more statements from workers who want to leave Israel, due to the situation.

However, they clarify that this is not their intention.

Here is the full text of the letter.

"In honor of the Prime Minister-designate, MK Benjamin Netanyahu:

We, senior officials in the Israeli economy, cannot continue to stand against the news in recent days about the intention to allow business owners and organizations to discriminate between their customers. We believe that we speak on behalf of Tens of thousands of Israeli workers, men and women, are concerned, who share the feeling that we have crossed the point of no return."

"See with concern"

"We see with concern the publications about harming the populations in Israeli society and announce that we will continue to work for equality, tolerance and security for each and every one. We support the right of our employees, members and companies of the gay community and every other person to full equality of rights and a life without discrimination or hatred on the basis of gender, origin or sexual orientation".

Discrimination, racism and homophobia

"Speech that encourages discrimination, racism or homophobia has no place among us.

We should not sit on the sidelines, and let extremist discourse damage what we have built here.

in the unique and diverse texture created in Israeli society.

The winds blowing these days may take us back, light years back, and Israel must be marched forward."

"We hear too many calls to leave the country and relocate. But we see our future, the future of our friendships, and the future of our children - here. Because, among other things, the amendment to the Anti-Discrimination Law and what it symbolizes is a move that goes beyond personal injury, and may harm our progress as a society and as a country, to return us to outdated and archaic arrangements that have no place in a democratic country like ours.

This is our obligation and responsibility as significant business entities in the Israeli economy to come out with an unequivocal call - there is no place for discrimination on the basis of religion, race, gender or sexual orientation. We call on every business owner to join the call and to allow this harm. We are all guarantors to each other and live here together; as human beings, as Israelis and as friends to each other."
