According to a study conducted by the KANTAR company in collaboration with Tnuva, it is evident that 70% of the third generation, aged 65 and over, do sports twice a week and more than half of them feel energetic and vital but fear losing their independence.
Tnuva connected to this figure and translated it into products intended for the third age.
The company is launching the 'Tnuva GOLD' series, which includes fortified yogurts designed for this age group.
The GOLD yogurt series was developed in collaboration with senior nutrition experts, which includes a dietician, an exercise physiologist, a sports dietitian, and a doctor, and it contains, among other things, nutrients that help preserve muscle and bone mass, including high-level protein, calcium, magnesium, vitamin D, and dietary fiber, which contribute to calcium absorption .

Addressing a million people: 65+ make up 12% of the population in Israel
Studies have proven that in order to optimally maintain muscle mass at the age of 60 plus, it is necessary to increase the amount of quality protein in the daily diet, just as it is necessary to increase the amount of protein among athletes.
In Israel, people aged 65 and over make up 12% of the population (about a million people) and 74% of seniors consume vitamins and nutritional supplements, and are aware of the body's physiological processes and strive to maintain a high level of quality of life in this regard.
According to the company's publications, Tnuva's 'GOLD' yogurt series is the only one that includes 15.3-17 grams of protein per cup.
In addition, it is low in sodium and enriched with magnesium, which helps with bone building and muscle function, enriched with vitamin D and has a high level of calcium, which is essential for bone building, and also enriched with inulin type dietary fibers, which contribute to the absorption of calcium.
The series also contains bifidus bacteria (BIO), and is low in lactose, since the rate of lactose sensitivity increases in the elderly.

Maintain vitality: active, flying abroad, traveling and even working
Michal Betzer, the director of the marketing department in Tnuva's milk division
: "The 65 and over people we target in the GOLD series currently make up about 12% of the population in Israel (about a million people). They are dynamic, engage in sports and social activities, fly abroad and travel in Israel and many of them are still working, and some of them are still supporting elderly parents and adult children.
" "According to a study we conducted with the KANTAR company, about 70% of those 65 and older do sports twice a week;
58% of those aged 65 and over, although they feel vital, fear losing their independence and ability to move.
The new GOLD series of yogurts contributes to the required nutritional needs and contains essential components for the preservation of bone and muscle mass, as recommended for this age population."

88% do not reach the recommended calcium intake
According to a survey by the Ministry of Health, the population aged 65 and over does not reach the recommended daily intake of vitamins and minerals, which also help preserve bone and muscle mass, which are important for mobility, according to the observed data:
88% do not reach the recommended daily calcium intake
60% do not reach the recommended magnesium intake
92% do not reach the consumption of vitamin D
with age, the efficiency of physiological processes and the processes of utilizing the protein to build muscle erodes, and seniors may lose 30% or even more of their muscle mass with puberty.
In order to optimally maintain muscle mass in the third age, studies and professional position papers recommend increasing the amount of quality protein in the daily diet, above the recommended daily amount.
The European umbrella organization for nutrition, for example, reinforces and recommends that senior citizens consume at least 1 gram of protein per kilogram of body weight.
