A cargo ship ran aground in the Suez Canal.
This was announced by the shipping agent of the "M/V Glory", the Norwegian company Leth, on Monday.
The canal authority is trying to haul it free again.
Accordingly, the ship ran aground near the town of Al-Kantara.
The accident brings back memories of the day-long blockade of the Suez Canal by the container ship "Ever Given" in March 2022. The giant freighter got stuck and blocked the passage.
The incident caused significant disruption to international shipping traffic.
Around ten percent of global sea trade passes through the Suez Canal, which connects the Red Sea with the Mediterranean Sea.
