Elisabeth Borne unveiled her pension reform project late Tuesday afternoon. Here's what to understand from its ads c

At 5.30 p.m., the Prime Minister, Élisabeth Borne, revealed to the press her pension reform project.

First flagship measure of the government: the legal retirement age will drop to 64 years, instead of 62 years currently – the initial track of 65 years having been abandoned.

The extension of the contribution period, already launched by the Touraine law of 2014, would be accelerated: the transition to 43 years would take place before 2035.

In details ?

All those born from the summer of 1961 must prepare to change their retirement plan.

Thus, the generation born between September 1 and December 1, 1961 will be the first to have to count one quarter more than expected, i.e. 169 quarters against 168 previously.

The generations born in 1965 and 1966 are those which bear the full brunt of the most significant increase in the number of quarters of contribution required, ie three additional additional quarters.

Against only two quarters for the following generations, born until 1969.

As for the legal age of departure, below which one cannot retire, if the generation born in 1968 is the first to take the plunge at 64, those born before are not spared.

For all those born between September 1, 1961, they will have to work three more months and wait until they are 62 and three months old before claiming their retirement, six months more for the 1962 generation, nine months more for the of 1963, and 63 years for people born in 1964…

In short, a progression modeled on this same rhythm until the generation born in 1968. And 64 years for all the others who come after.
