Regardless of the salmonella scandal surrounding contaminated chocolate bars, the confectionery group Ferrero (Kinder Schokolade, Duplo, Nutella) made excellent money in the past financial year - much to the benefit of the owner family.
According to documents in the Luxembourg commercial register, the Schenkenberg holding company registered there, the 100% owner of Ferrero, received a dividend of 646 million euros from its subsidiary for the past financial year.
The holding's profit was EUR 35 million higher than in the previous year.
For the owners, the Ferrero profits are apparently a reliable source of income.
According to the register extract, the shareholders already paid a dividend of 765 million euros in January 2022.
Company heir Giovanni Ferrero, who owns three quarters of the holding company, will receive around 574 million euros, with the remaining owners sharing the rest.
Despite the huge dividend, the holding company remains financially strong: the Schenkenberg reserves are reported at a good seven billion euros.
In December, DER SPIEGEL revealed that Ferrero profits from child labor in the harvest of cocoa and hazelnuts.
