ahead of the Economic Committee meeting, MK Bitan announced that he would not accept the absence of the large food companies and marketing chains. He referred to the intention not to appear for the discussion and said that it is not possible for these companies to ignore the public and not give it an account, and noted that the absence will affect the attitude of the committee to the companies in the future.

Beyond the importance of the issue, it was evident that Bitan had a clear interest in the discussion in the Economic Committee: last week, MK Bitan was unanimously elected to the position of Chairman of the Economic Committee, and the first discussion he requested to hold in the committee is on the ongoing trend of rising food prices and its effect on the cost of living.
Invited to tomorrow's meeting were, among others, the commissioner of the competition authority, attorney Michal Cohen, representatives of the relevant government ministries, including the finance, economy and industry, agriculture, and more, as well as representatives of manufacturers, food companies, marketing chains, consumer organizations, and the public, and more.
