The workers' committee of the Airports Authority threatens that if the 750 workers who are missing in Israel are not immediately recruited, especially in the security department, passengers will once again begin to suffer from waiting in long lines.
We will recall that until a few months ago, long lines stretched out at airports in Israel and around the world, a consequence of the return of the passengers who were freed from the Corona restrictions and jumped on the flights. Passengers were called to check-in 4-5 hours early, waited hours in huge queues - and there were even those who missed their flights due to the long wait.
At the height of the crisis, hundreds of airport authority employees were redirected from other departments in the field to the Security, to try and open the bottleneck. Even the director general of the National Security Agency at the time, Shmuel Zakai, was seen doing the work of selectors - security interviewers.

"Don't want to hurt the passengers, but..."
But the temporary became permanent - and the employees of the airport authority simply had enough.

: "Last year, 20 million passengers passed through the field, as in 2019, and we are suffering from a severe personnel shortage.
The mass is in the security department, people there are not ready to accept a salary of less than NIS 30 an hour and no one wants to come to work.
Because there are no employees, every day an average of 250 suitcases get stuck, because there is no one to take care of them.
"The management must immediately get into the matter and wage a war with the treasury if necessary, in order to get more money and more standards. I have salary agreements that are not being respected. The employees of the security division, who are contractor employees, were supposed to be absorbed as permanent employees already four years ago and this is not happening, Talk about the fact that we haven't had wage agreements since 2017. During the Corona virus, we considered the situation and did nothing, but we no longer have a choice. I don't want to hurt passengers, we need personnel and now."
Idan avoids explicit inventory under sanctions or shutdowns, but he does not need this in order to de facto paralyze the National Security Agency. It is enough if the employees who were transferred to the security departments return to their previous jobs or alternatively, those who were transferred to security will be missing elsewhere (for example in the unloading of luggage) to cause disruptions Difficult, huge queues at the security interview and/or a long wait for the luggage upon landing in the airport.
Judging by past experience, it is very possible that we are on the eve of severe disruptions at Israel's international airport.
And what is the airport authority's position?
There, apparently, they want to see the latest development as a demonstration of strength on the part of the committee, as an improvement in attitudes towards the negotiations for a new salary agreement.
The Authority stated:
"During the period of negotiations on labor agreements, pressure is applied. We are recruiting employees, some of whom are supposed to finish courses in the near future, and we are employing day workers and volunteers. There is no doubt that more employees are needed and we are far from witnessing the amount of manpower in 2019. We recently finished a recruitment campaign And you have to take into account that this is a problem for the entire economy. There have been no collective agreements for a very long time and with the negotiations on them, the pressure is increasing."
