Prime Minister, Eng. Hussein Arnous, met today with the Board of Directors of the Damascus Chamber of Industry and its countryside, headed by Ghazwan Al-Masry.

The meeting focused on the importance of continuous coordination and cooperation between the industrial private sector and the concerned government agencies, in order to overcome any obstacles to improving the reality of the production process, securing the local market’s need for various goods and materials at reasonable prices, and providing government facilities to increase local production and export the surplus of various products.

Eng. Arnous stressed that the national business sector is an essential partner in addressing the economic reality by providing proposals and solutions and stimulating work and production with the aim of fortifying the national economy and securing the requirements of the production process, pointing to providing all possible forms of support to industrialists through legislation and decisions issued regarding support for the local product and strengthening its presence in domestic and foreign markets.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of organized work through the federation of chambers of industry and chambers in the governorates and achieving justice in the distribution of fuel to industrialists, pointing to the need to adhere to product pricing controls and achieve an acceptable profit margin for traders and industrialists and display them in the markets at reasonable prices, which contributes to alleviating citizens in light of the difficult economic conditions. Syria is going through as a result of the unjust blockade.

The discussions focused on a number of issues related to improving the work of the platform for imports, securing the flow of fuel “diesel and fuel” necessary for industrialists in sufficient quantities, supporting the export product, overcoming any obstacles to the entry of Syrian products into foreign markets, enhancing competitiveness between merchants and industrialists, and allowing the transfer of machinery from one location to another through Directorates of industry and chambers in the governorates, and networking between the Syrian chambers of industry and their counterparts in friendly countries, with the aim of stimulating investment, establishing joint projects, and activating the import substitution program.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Industry Ziyad Sabbagh and Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Dr. Qais Muhammad Khader.
