The Ver.di trade union is calling for a strike in ground handling services, the airport company and aviation security at the capital's BER airport on Wednesday.
One expects a very large participation, said Ver.di.
“It is likely that all air traffic to and from Berlin will be affected by the strike on Wednesday.”
Passengers should expect severe delays and flight cancellations.
"The strike will take place all day long at the beginning of the early shift and will end late in the evening."
The airport therefore assumes, according to its own statements, that “no regular passenger flights can take place at BER”.
Around 300 take-offs and landings were planned for Wednesday, with a total of 35,000 passengers.
Ver.di charges employees of the ground handling services and the airport company 500 euros more per month for a period of twelve months.
For employees in aviation security, the main issues are time bonuses and better collective bargaining for overtime.
