The former British socialite is said to have become an accomplice of the deceased American financier, accused of sexual exploitation of dozens of minors.

"Clearly (...) the fact that I work with him and that I spend time with him and that I know him has destroyed my life and hurt a lot of people who are dear to me and whom I love", estimated Ghislaine Maxwell.

She pointed out that she "didn't know" that Jeffrey Epstein was "that awful", although "obviously now, when you look back, of course it is."

A “fake shot”

Excerpts from Ghislaine Maxwell's interview were shared on Sunday January 22.

She also defends Prince Andrew, accused of sexually assaulting a woman named Virginia Giuffre when she was 17.

The socialite thus claimed that the vintage snapshot showing the ex-Duke of York with an arm around the waist of the young girl was “a fake”.

American Virginia Giuffre, now 39, accuses the prince of having sexually assaulted her three times in 2001. She claims to have met him through Jeffrey Epstein.

Prince Andrew, friend of Ghislaine Maxwell and the businessman, sealed an amicable agreement with her in February 2022, paying millions of dollars.

This allowed him to avoid a civil trial in New York, which would have been extremely embarrassing for the British royal family.

The 62-year-old prince, who fell into disgrace after these accusations, has always disputed the statements of Virginia Giuffre.

According to British newspapers, he is now studying legal options to try to cancel their agreement.
