Dia closes 2022 with an increase in sales of 9.6%

Grupo Dia closed 2022 with net sales of 7,286 million euros, 9.6% more, due to the good evolution of the supermarket company in Spain, but also with a strong boost from Argentina, where there is inflation of more than 90% annual.

Sales in comparable stores (

) of the group increased by 5.7%, according to advanced billing data to the National Stock Market Commission this Thursday.

The company is in the midst of a major transformation to reinforce the proximity strategy and close stores that do not meet that criteria because they are on the outskirts of cities.

Thus, it ended 2022 with 5,699 stores, 238 fewer than a year earlier.

Spain, the year ended with net sales of 4,436 million euros, 5.4% more, and 11.6% in the fourth quarter.

In comparable terms, Spain achieved growth of 8.3% in the year and 12.5% ​​in the fourth quarter of 2022. The difference is due to the fact that, in 2022, the group announced that it was transferring some large-format stores to Alcampo and the sale of Clarel and the net sales of these establishments totaled 761 million.

Sales in Argentina amounted to 1,364 million euros of net sales, 30.8% more.

In Portugal and Brazil, the rise in net sales was 0.5% and 10.9%.

In comparable terms, in Portugal it grew by 3.7% and in Brazil by 7.4%.

"We have closed a challenging and highly relevant year for Dia in which we have met the objectives set out in our roadmap," Dia's CEO, Martín Tolcachir, said in a statement.
