In the RBB crisis, new inconsistencies regarding payments to top staff at the station have arisen: Specifically, it is about allowances for management staff at the ARD station - including the management - with a view to the ARD chairmanship, which RBB has held since January 1, 2022 .

According to the interim director Katrin Vernau, there is talk of at least 1700 euros per month.

In the contracts, there were additional agreements for the payment of the ARD allowance, which had been paid months before the start of the ARD presidency at the RBB.

These contracts were all countersigned by the chairman of the board of directors, who also resigned amid the scandal, Vernau said.

Additional agreements for the payment of the ARD allowance

In the case of Schlesinger himself, there is also a draft submission to the board of directors for an allowance of 2,000 euros.

However, the minutes of a meeting do not indicate that the proposal was available to the Council.

»However, the allowance was not paid out to Ms. Schlesinger because the HR department did not have this agreement.«

As a result of the felt scandal at the station, the chair passed prematurely to the WDR, RBB director Patricia Schlesinger resigned from the ARD chair and later also as RBB station manager and was dismissed without notice.

The presidency usually changes between the ARD houses after two years.

According to Vernau, the payments were made up to and including July 2022.

Vernau took over the station as interim boss in the fall, she should lead him out of the crisis.

On Wednesday, she informed the employees of the public broadcaster Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) on the company's intranet that she had handed the case over to an employment law firm and was having it checked whether and to what extent those involved in the process had violated their duty of care.

The director also spoke of the fact that “measure and middle have been completely lost”.

At the request of the dpa, the current head of the board of directors announced that the facts would also be examined legally.

The current board of directors explained that the rest of the body was not involved at the time.

There were no draft resolutions.
