Damascus, SANA- The area cultivated with the wheat crop has exceeded 1,211,677 hectares to date, on the entire arable land.

The area cultivated with the wheat crop to date has exceeded 1,211,677 hectares on the entire arable land in Syria, of which 562,913 hectares are irrigated and 648,764 hectares are rainfed, with an implementation rate of 89 percent of the planned plan, while the total area cultivated with barley has so far reached 1,160,927 hectares.

The Director of Plant Production at the Ministry of Agriculture, Eng. Ahmed Haidar, explained in a statement to SANA that the farmers began receiving the second batch of nitrogen fertilizer for the wheat crop from the agricultural banks, pointing to the need to monitor the fields and communicate with the extension units to combat the field mouse.

And he indicated that the amount of seeds distributed so far has reached 53,109 tons of wheat seeds, and that 18,523 hectares have been planted with medicinal and aromatic crops, including 10,461 hectares of cumin, 820 hectares of anise, 455 hectares of black cumin, 6,716 hectares of coriander, and 71 hectares of various crops such as fennel, thyme, fenugreek, mint, Damascene rose, and others.

Haidar stated that the areas cultivated with food legume crops amounted to 99,218 hectares, including 75,703 hectares of lentils, 8,587 hectares of chickpeas, 13,525 hectares of beans, and 1,403 hectares of peas.
