Our salary in shekels has increased, but its purchasing power has decreased - this is according to data from the National Statistics Office regarding the average salary in the economy for a salaried position

Is the hi-tech salary celebration over?

The data is still inconclusive, but there is an explanation for it (Photo: ShutterStock)

The Central Bureau of Statistics today publishes the wage data in the economy, from which it appears that the average wage in Israel continues to erode: the wage in the month of November (the last one for which the Central Bureau of Statistics has data) was 11,868 shekels, which indeed represents an increase of 4.6% compared to the month of November 2021, but nevertheless, When the inflation figures are subtracted from the salary, an erosion of 0.7% is evident. Meaning - our salary may have increased, but it is possible to buy less with it.

November 2022 - according to original data (Israeli workers)

The average salary for a salaried position at current prices

was NIS 11,868, an increase of 4.6% compared to November 2021 (NIS 11,351).

The average salary for a salaried position at fixed prices

(deducted by the monthly consumer price index) was NIS 10,455, a decrease of 0.7% compared to November 2021 (NIS 10,527).

However, an increase can be seen in a key area: the number of jobs in the economy, which increased and brought the Israeli economy to unemployment rates that are on the border of "frictional unemployment".

The number of salaried jobs

was 3.965 million, an increase of 3.5% compared to November 2021 (3.832 million) and an increase of 1.4% compared to October 2022 (3.912 million).

Troubles of the rich (but fired)

And what about the hi-tech crisis?

At least according to the data, which as I remember refer to the month of November 2022, the ta is still not noticeable.

At the same time, there are those who warn that this figure should not be exaggerated:

Itan Biran, CEO of the digital placement company mynextworker

: The figures do not reflect reality, because thousands of high-tech layoffs have retirement agreements that give them salaries a few months ahead, in addition, the laid-off used their sick and vacation days theirs and thus the salary was higher, minus the above mentioned things the November salary should have been lower than October and November last year.
