Dunn & Bradstreet reveals for the 23rd time the ranking of the top 25 law firms in Israel.

The ranking was revealed as part of the annual Duns 100 forum of senior legal professionals, in which the seniors discussed the burning issues on the professional agenda, chief among them the legal reform promoted by the government these days, as well as the dramatic changes occurring at the top of the legal profession in the background of mergers.

After the dramatic merger,

the Goldfarb Gross Seligman law firm occupies the first place in the prestigious ranking

. After only one year in first place, the Mitar Law firm loses its place at the top of the ranking and drops to second place. For the first time, the law firms CBA - Sharkon, Ben -Ami, Asher & Co. - law firm, Wexler Bergman & Co. and Epstein Rosenblum Maoz (ERM). Who did not enter this year is the law firm of Pirt Wilensky.

The ranking of the top 25 firms includes a threshold condition, which refers to diversity and prominence: the firm deals in at least 5 fields, out of the total niches in the ranking, and is ranked in tiers 1-2 in at least 3 fields in the niche ranking.

In addition, one of the parameters that determines the position in the ranking is the number of lawyers employed by the firm, as of 12/31/2022.

What characterizes the leaders, among other things, are the diverse areas of practice in which each firm is engaged, and the leadership of each such practice.

The leading firms are often ahead of their time, know how to identify trends before everyone else, something that characterizes an outstanding law firm.

"The medium-sized offices will continue to have difficulty recruiting and retaining personnel"

The trend of mergers, as we know, did not pass by the year 2022 - following the mergers we saw in 2021 and the thinning out of medium-sized firms, in 2022 we saw mega mergers and it is estimated that there are more firms that are considering their steps.

Mergers, of course, bring with them difficult internal and economic struggles, all the more so in a small market like Israel where the potential for conflicts of interest is high.

The ministries also continued to merge practices that they felt needed to be strengthened in the ministry, and even bring in "reinforcing players", either from competing ministries or from various public ministries.

Dunn & Bradstreet's assessment is that the medium-sized firms will continue to have difficulty recruiting and retaining personnel, the high overheads will continue to make it difficult, and the consolidation trend will continue into the year 2023. Another trend that stands out in recent years is the promotion of more lawyers to partners, with the goal of retaining the lawyers and placing They have a progressive horizon.
