The Niort based insurer Macif announced on Monday the acquisition of the windshield repair and replacement specialist Mondial Pare-brise for 103 million euros.
"
This is the first time that an insurer has acquired a repairer of this magnitude
," Macif CEO Jean-Philippe Dogneton told AFP.
Macif represents 300,000 of the 2.5 million annual interventions for glass breakage in France, a charge of 200 million euros each year for the mutual insurer of the Aéma group.
“
Repair is a very important axis, particularly on the question of automobile glass
,” assures Jean-Philippe Dogneton.
The average price of windshields is experiencing significant inflation, he adds, due to the increase in the surface area of the glazing and the integration of sensors, to automatically detect rain, for example.
The French windshield repair and replacement market is dominated by Carglass, followed by France Pare-brise and Mondial Pare-brise.
