Kelly Olmos insisted on semi-annual parities at 30% and acknowledged: "The January number was a difficult impact, but we can meet the goals"

"We are getting it," said the Minister of Labor regarding the inflation projection established in the Economy for the whole year.

The Minister of Labor of the Nation, Raquel "Kelly" Olmos, said this Monday that, despite the fact that inflation started the year with a rate of 6% in January, the Government is achieving the goal it set for itself, and repeated that

30 % is the reference for salary increases

that are currently negotiated in parities.

"30% is the inflation target, and we are achieving it. We have had an impact in that difficult sense with the January number, but it does not mean that we cannot

meet that 30-point inflation target in the first semester,"

the official stated in statements to El Destape Radio.

Based on this inflation goal, the Ministry of Labor -and also from the Ministry of Economy- suggested that this be the percentage increase to be negotiated in the parities that each union carries out to establish the semi-annual salary increases.

In this sense,

Olmos confirmed that this 30% is the reference for negotiations

, but that some sectors may obtain a better percentage from the income generated.

"We have always said that this goal must be taken as a reference and, in the cases in which the unions could do so, reach some additional point of recomposition. This is closely related to the capacity of each sector," said the minister, mentioning that the teachers' union achieved an increase of over 30% and that in the case of the banks, they are discussing that the employer take charge of a part of the payment of the Income Tax of the workers.

Official inflation

in January was 6%,

and it is estimated that in February the evolution of retail prices would suffer a similar fate.

According to economists who usually advance their forecasts, the rise will be between 5.5% and 6.1%.

With these estimates, year-on-year inflation will exceed 100%, after 98.8% in January -which was the highest value in 31 years-, therefore it would be well above the official forecasts of the ministry led by Sergio Massa, although The minister himself confirmed on Sunday that this goal is achievable and asserted that no bad result will "get him out of the fight in the championship to lower inflation."

On the other hand, the official stressed that from her ministry they closely follow the joint negotiations that the different unions carry out.

"Regarding the formal work, we are following up on the parities and we see that the negotiation is very vigorous and does not require additional interventions," he said.

But he acknowledged that there is a large sector that is causing concern, and that it is the one that has been growing rapidly in recent years: "the issue is informal work, which obviously has much more weakness, and which is the expression of everything that has become impoverished Argentina in each neoliberal process".

"For the informal sector we have a number of social policy instruments," he added, mentioning as an example the Empowering Work program, which he explained assists more than a million people and seeks to bring them closer to the white job market.
