She is accused of nepotism and waste, and under her leadership the Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) plunged into a deep crisis.

Now ex-director Patricia Schlesinger is taking her former employer to court.

Her media lawyer Ralf Höcker told the dpa news agency on Friday that it was about a company pension and that Schlesinger had sued for 18,384.54 euros.

Per month.

"Business Insider" first reported on the lawsuit on Thursday and called a higher sum than the claim - more than 22,000 euros.

When asked, Schlesinger's lawyer said that this higher sum was initially in the room, but the lower sum was then sued in court.

A spokeswoman for the Berlin district court confirmed to the dpa that proceedings had been initiated.

"The plaintiff is demanding a pension from the defendant, a public broadcaster, on the basis of a terminated employment relationship."

She wants more than ex-Chancellor Merkel gets

A date for a hearing has not yet been scheduled, the court said.

Schlesinger's media lawyer, Ralf Höcker, confirmed the complaint to the dpa - and said: "Even if the constructed allegations against the client had any justification, it would be completely unreasonable to take away the company pension that she has worked for over 30 years has."

Retirement benefit means that you receive money from your previous employer after the end of an employment relationship until you retire.

Should Schlesinger be awarded the required sum, she would get more than former Chancellor Angela Merkel, who is entitled to around 15,000 euros in pensions.

When asked, RBB said: "Please understand that we cannot provide any information on ongoing labor law proceedings." At the same time, the ARD broadcaster answered the question of whether the broadcaster was currently paying money to Schlesinger with "no".

The public service RBB fell into a deep crisis in the summer of 2022.

Allegations of nepotism and waste arose.

At the center of the scandal are the director Schlesinger, who was fired without notice, and the resigned chief supervisor Wolf-Dieter Wolf.

The Berlin Attorney General is investigating.

Both rejected allegations.

The management around Schlesinger also came into focus in the scandal - in the context of non-transparent bonuses and allowances.

In the meantime, no one from the squad is in office anymore.

In addition to Schlesinger's lawsuit at the district court, three of the four directors at the time and the head of the artistic director at the time, who was not part of the management, went to court - but this is about the termination of their employment relationships.

The cases are with the labor court in Berlin.

There are no results yet.
