Refueling could become a little cheaper in the coming months.
This applies "if the competitive forces are effective and nothing out of the ordinary happens," as the ADAC fuel market expert, Jürgen Albrecht, explained in Munich.
In the case of diesel in particular, there is still room for improvement, and the seasonal effects after the heating period tend to point to falling prices.
One year after the extreme increase in fuel prices in the first half of March 2022, Albrecht believes that petrol prices have gradually normalized.
"When you compare them to the oil price and the euro exchange rate, they are still rather high, but the decoupling with extreme prices is over," he said.
"We haven't got that far with diesel yet." Since mid-February, the fuel has been cheaper than petrol again, but it has to be in view of the lower tax.
And the difference is still too small.
However, the price reductions would have to be forced through competition, explained Albrecht and called for deliberately cheap refueling.

In March 2022, all previous fuel price records were shattered under the impact of the Ukraine war.
On March 7th, according to ADAC figures, the value of 2 euros per liter of Super E10 and diesel was exceeded for the very first time on a nationwide daily average.
The all-time high for diesel followed on March 10 with a daily average of EUR 2.321 per liter nationwide.
The E10 record was reached on March 14 with 2.203 euros.
