How much does an intern in law earn and how much in accounting?

Oketz Systems recently conducted an in-depth examination among 589 interns, and all the results are before you.

Let's start in the field of law.

According to the data, the average salary range of an intern hired by a small law firm is NIS 6,500-9,500 per month.

The salary climbs to the level of NIS 7,500-9,500 when it comes to employment in a medium-sized office.

As for the interns who got lucky and managed to be accepted for an internship at a large firm - at the end of the month they will see an amount ranging from NIS 8,500-11,000 on the pay slip in the gross line.

Alongside all of this, there are dozens of interns, maybe a few hundreds for sure, who managed to pave the way for themselves to specialize in the giant firms, or as they are called in the barangay - mega firms.

There the salary ranges soar to NIS 10,000-12,000.

Is it a relatively high salary?

When you look at this figure against the scope of working hours - the answer is unequivocal "no".

According to data from Okets Systems, 65% of all interns work more than 10 hours every day.

For those of the readers who are not in the know, the internship is a stage in the training of a lawyer.

The internship begins after graduation from law school, and is conducted under the supervision of a lawyer (at a law firm or the state attorney's office) or under the supervision of a judge in a court.

Upon completion of the internship, the intern passes a written exam, and his success in it gives him the right to become a lawyer.

In July 2017, the Knesset approved the extension of the internship period to one and a half years.

This extension does not apply to those who began their studies for legal education before the end of July 2017, provided that they complete their internship period within three years from the date of graduation;

Those who completed their studies for legal education before the end of July 2017, provided that they complete their internship period within four years from this date.

And what about accountants? (Photo: ShutterStock)

And what is happening in the field of accounting?

How much do interns earn?

This time we will start with the individuals of virtue, that is - the interns who managed to pave the way to intern at one of the five largest firms in Israel.

According to the survey data and according to the publications, the salary range is between NIS 8,000-9,000 per month.

The said salary has soared during the last two years, and the reason for this is not the 'kindness' of the firms.

The decrease in the number of accounting graduates in recent years and the plight of interns in the market has given rise to fierce competition among the large firms for every intern.

At the same time as the exposure, there was a struggle by accounting graduates against the lowering of interns' wages that was carried out in the big firms over the years.

The accounting firms did not remain indifferent.

One after the other, all five large firms raised the wages of the interns as well as the wages of the employees in the firm accordingly.

However, as mentioned, this is the salary of interns in the largest firms.

And what will appear on the pay slip of the other interns?

The amount ranges from 6,000-8,000 depending, mainly on the size of the office.

Haim Molcho, CEO of Okets Systems, a company that provides computerized solutions in the field of pension operations and personnel: the image of an accountant buried under a pile of tax invoices is probably outdated and does not reflect the field. Unlike in the past, in recent years we have witnessed a massive and rapid entry of accounting firms The account for the field of providing solutions to a very wide range of fields and especially in the field of strategy consulting, IT, economic consulting, risk management, operational consulting, knowledge management, innovation processes. This has a direct impact on the nature of the employees who are recruited, today, in many cases these are those At the same time also with knowledge in fields such as industrial engineering and management, computers, etc.
