The director of the economy of Damascus and its countryside, Nizar Bakour, confirmed that all measures taken with regard to granting import licenses aim to achieve transparency and competition between importers and reach them, indicating that there is a set of documents required to grant import licenses in accordance with the provisions of foreign trade, whether for the trader or the industrialist.
The Director of the Directorate, Nizar Bakour, explained in a statement to SANA reporter that the papers required for the merchant are (financial clearance, commercial register, membership in the Chamber of Commerce), in addition to a document that has been in effect since 2017, which is a social security clearance submitted monthly, and a sensory disclosure statement as An identification document from the Chamber of Commerce is submitted once.
As for the industrialist, the director of the economy of Damascus and its countryside explained that the required papers are (financial clearance, industrial register, membership of the Chamber of Industry, industrial allocations page and annual social insurance clearance), pointing out that the duration of the import license for the industrialist is one year, and for the merchant is 6 months.
Bakour stressed that coordination and cooperation are taking place with the concerned authorities, which are the ministries of internal trade, consumer protection, industry and finance, and the federations of industrial and commercial chambers, with the aim of validating the data provided, and not granting the documents required for import licenses except after scrutiny and physical examination of the applicant for the documents, pointing out that there is no monopoly on importing a specific material. And that approvals are granted to everyone who fulfills the conditions and submits the required documents.
Bakour pointed out that the decisions taken by all concerned authorities in this field led to controlling the granting of import licenses.
