Santander stops asking retirees for proof of life: bank by bank, what is the process they have to do?

2023-03-15T14:42:43.789Z

Depending on the entity in which the pension assets are collected, it must be done in person, virtually or automatically.

Retirees and pensioners who collect their salaries through a bank, in general, must carry out

a survival or proof of life procedure.

Prior to the pandemic, this step was completed in person or through a purchase with a debit card in nearby businesses.

During the confinement period, it was suspended, and in the post-pandemic, on the other hand, that faith of life was either without effect, or it began to be done virtually, depending on each financial institution through which they receive the credit.

In the midst of this context, this Wednesday, Banco Santander -one of the entities that still required it- announced that it

stops requesting the proof of life process

for retirees and pensioners, and adds benefits to the package that it already offers for this age group. .

"All those people who collect their pension assets in the entity will access the benefits of the Senior Account," the entity said in a statement.

And he added: "Fully discounted accounts and packages, savings in pharmacies, supermarkets, auto insurance, preferential rates for personal loans and a telephone line with priority attention, among others."

For new customers who start collecting their retirement with Santander,

they will receive a welcome $5,000

in their new account

for one time.

Customers will be able to access the benefits of the Superclub+ points program, and the promotions of the Sorpresa Santander and Women programs, 100% discounted for new adhesions, in the first 6 months.

In addition,

they will have available a financial education site that will help them with their daily procedures.

In this way, the entity confirmed that it

automates the

survival process.

Silvia Tenazinha, Manager of Commercial Banking at Santander Argentina, pointed out that "we have a motto in Santander that is: we want to help you, and

its translation into action is to make life easier for people".
