“to be able, within ten years, to go and settle on the Moon in a permanent and autonomous way.
And ensure a presence in low Earth orbit.
For this, Europe must develop its own space station and its own manned vessel.
This is the main conclusion of the independent report submitted to the European Space Agency (ESA) by the High Level Group (HLAG), set up at the request of Emmanuel Macron, in the wake of the Toulouse space summit in February 2022. Titled “The Space Revolution: Europe's Mission in Space Exploration”, the report was made public on Thursday.
It was eagerly awaited after the absence of the launch of a manned capsule program at the ESA ministerial meeting last November.
