In the midst of the growing inflation that plagues the country, the Government confirmed on Tuesday the new amounts corresponding to the minimum, vital and mobile wage, which rises 26.6 percent in a quarter, and defined when they will be charged.
In addition, it reported the increases in the minimum and maximum
unemployment benefits
.
The measure was communicated through Resolution 5/2023, which was published in the latest edition of the
Official Gazette
with the signature of
Raquel "Kelly' Olmos
, the head of the Ministry of Labor.
Specifically, it will rise 15.6 percent from April, 6 percent from May and, finally, 5 percent in June.
On July 15, the members of the Salary Council will sit down to discuss a new increase.
In this way, from
April 1
, 2023, "all monthly workers who complete the full legal work day" will receive a minimum wage of
$80,342
, while daily employees will reach
$401.71 per hour
.
Scheme of the increase in the minimum, vital and mobile wage in March 2023.
"As of
May 1
, 2023, the minimum, vital and mobile wage is set at
$84,512
for all monthly workers who complete a full day of work, and at
$422.56
per hour
for daily workers," the statement specifies. Subsection "b" of Article 1.
The last increase will come on
June 1
: it will be
87.987 pesos
for monthly workers and
439.94 pesos per hour
for daily workers.
In this way, the increase validated by the Casa Rosada is detached from the scheme of an annual increase of 60% or two semi-annual agreements of 30% that the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, intended
for
the parities of the private sector.
Instead, it is located closer to the commitment of the unions that began to negotiate their salaries with the quarterly agreement plan with a floor increase of 20%.
Unemployment benefits: new increases
In Article 2, the resolution reported on the increases that will be applied to the minimum and maximum amounts of the unemployment benefit.
Specifically, the benefits of the
Potenciar Trabajo plan
are equivalent to half the minimum wage.
From April 1, the floor will remain at
$22,475.07
, while the ceiling will reach
$39,125.12
.
The following month, starting May 1, both figures will increase to
$24,440.33
and
$40,733.88
respectively.
The last of the three increases will be applied from June 1: the minimum amount will rise to
24,440.33 pesos
, while the maximum will reach
40,733.88 pesos
.
At the end of last year, some offices of the Casa Rosada launched a plan to try to separate the increase in Potenciar from the evolution of the minimum wage and activated the formation of the so-called Popular Economy Council, so that this body is in charge of setting the amount of that benefit.
Finally, this brand new council will meet for the first time on March 31, although - due to the lack of specific legislation that enables it - it will not be able to advance in the definition of any increase.
