McDonald's protest measure: Netanyahu stopped managing the events - voila! Of money

Netanyahu provided the Histadrut and the business sector with the excuse for an unprecedented general shutdown of the economy. His words from yesterday were too little too late. He no longer directs the events but pursues them

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu literally played into the hands of Histadrut Chairman Arnon Bar David yesterday. Until yesterday, the latter rebuffed all the pressures placed on him to shut down the economy. From whom did he not receive phone calls? Who did not send him text messages? But Bar David called for dialogue and reconciliation, Mashel was the president.

But even the moderate Bar David broke down after the Prime Minister fired Defense Minister Yoav Galant and ignited the atomic reactor of the mass protests. From the moment he decided to shut down the economy, Bar David became the biggest protester and was embraced by them. A tense and nerve-wracking day passed yesterday until the announcement

of The stoppage of the legislation. Netanyahu wanted to organize an image of victory from the right, mainly to create a balance, which does not exist, between protesters against the legal revolution and the right-wing people who support it. Waiting until tonight, prevented the immediate termination of a strike and caused the expenditure of hundreds of millions of unnecessary shekels.

The whole country shut down

The Histadrut's strike announcement was joined in an unprecedented way by: the banks, the airport authority, the marketing chains, the commercial centers, the private companies and more.

Managers of companies such as Teva, Discount and others, some of whom are wary of political statements such as Mash, sent explanatory letters to employees about the essence of democracy and the fears of harming it.

This is how the employees received a lesson in citizenship as a bonus.

Of all the strikes held yesterday in the economy, against the background of the legal revolution, one in particular caught my eye.

The strike of the McDonald's chain in Israel.

There has never been a strike in this network in Israel and to the best of my knowledge in the world.

One of the international economic benchmarks regarding the global cost of living is the 'Big Mac' index which compares the dollar prices of the meatloaf.

So, as of yesterday, the McDonald's protest index can also be announced, according to which the chain's participation in any protest indicates its strength.

It should be noted that the chain's franchise is owned by Omri Padan (who, in fact, was personally involved in civil protests in the past), a veteran of the Joint Chiefs of Staff patrol who served on the team of Avi Dichter (the current candidate for Minister of Defense). And he is not the only one: in yesterday's strike, the companies owned by

Keren Fimi Investments, controlled by Yishai Davidi, is also a patrol officer of the General Staff.

The Fimi Foundation employs 55,000 people in 50 factories in Israel and around the world.

Davidi, who worked behind the scenes to reach an understanding regarding the legislation, said yesterday: "Israel is facing fateful days. I call for the legislation to be stopped immediately, Defense Minister Yoav Galant to be reinstated and the country restored to sanity."

Padan, Davidi and all the others are ultra-secular.

In other words, ultra-Orthodox are not worried about their pockets but about the fate of the economy and democracy.

They cannot be painted with political interests as Netanyahu tried to do in the last three months.

After the cancellation of the revolution, everyone will return to their homes without turning to politics, as for some of them, we will never even know which party they vote for.

"Hunting Dean"

Netanyahu Model 2023 does not manage the events but pursues them.

Any response from him, like in yesterday's speech, becomes too little too late.

He started out with hatred towards the protestors and called them anarchists (his very close environment also used much harsher expressions, apparently unbeknownst to him), but later he embraced them.

He dismissed Defense Minister Yoav Galant out of hand, but later agreed to freeze the legislation regarding the committee for selecting judges.

From now on, the Prime Minister must take matters into his own hands: continuing to shout slogans in the air, as he said in his speech yesterday, such as "We are brothers", no longer works.

The people are waiting for a cash payment and not for literary musings from Begin's seminary (who may be turning over in his grave now).

How disappointing that the speech did not even hint at the reason for Gallant's firing.

Netanyahu must understand that the public will not be satisfied except with the complete cancellation of the legislative procedures, and this has not yet happened.

Any attempt to continue it will intensify the demonstrations and greatly shorten the road to a confrontation with the Supreme Court.

Netanyahu's spin may be working on Ben Gabir's La Familia soldiers, but not on the protesting public.
