Three outstanding technicians will in principle be responsible for determining

whether or not the controversial exchange of bonds with the ANSeS is beneficial for the organization

.

Those named so far are

Andrés López, Sebastián Katz and Javier Curcio,

three prestigious figures and experience in the UBA.

They will be in charge of evaluating a measure with which Sergio Massa seeks to finance the deficit and contain the parallel dollars.

Within the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the UBA, their names began to circulate since the Minister of Economy requested an audit.

He first discussed it on Friday with the vice-rector of the UBA, Emiliano Yacobitti, who yesterday distanced himself and questioned the fact that it was not presented to Congress before.

And finally he formalized the request this Monday with a letter sent to the dean Ricardo JM Pahlen Acuña, and to the general auditor of the Nation, Jesús Rodríguez.

"They are all excellent: Andrés on productive issues, Sebastián on monetary and financial issues, and Javier on social issues,"

said an economist who knows the three candidates.

These are economists with different institutional positions within Economics, and who will now play a key role in the opinion on the exchange and sale of ANSeS bonds, although they will not necessarily be the ones to issue the technical opinion.

"If the order arrives, we will do the job,"

they said in Economics.

In the market and the opposition

warn that the operation harms the "retirement funds"

because it

"pesifies" assets

in the hands of the social security organization, since in exchange for the exchange and sale of securities in dollars it will receive bonds in pesos to 2036 adjusted for inflation and dollar.

In the academic institution, there are also doubts about how the Treasury will pay those commitments in the future, given the difficulties the government faces today to finance its debts.

  • Sebastián Katz

is director of the Economics program and researcher in the Central Bank's research department.

Professor for decades in the faculty, specializing in macroeconomics, he worked in the economic teams of Roberto Lavagna and Hernán Lacunza.

Of the first, he was undersecretary of Economic Programming of the Ministry of Economy and representative of the minister before the board of the BCRA.

  • Javier Curcio

is the head of the Department of Economics.

He was also a teacher at FLACSO, UdeSa, UTDT and the National University of Tres de Febrero.
