While all eyes are on the construction of six new next-generation EPR2 nuclear reactors, EDF is pursuing another titanic low-noise project: its large fairing.

according to the expression consecrated by the protagonists, was launched in 2015, for a cost initially set at 55 billion euros, then reduced to 49.5 billion.

At the end of 2021, a phase 2 was added, extending the conduct of the project until 2028, and bringing the total cost of the renovation and modernization operations of the nuclear fleet to 66 billion.

This is more than the budget planned for the construction of the "new nuclear", the six EPRs wanted by Emmanuel Macron.
