Just before the major holidays in Israel, the search for the perfect gift begins, the pursuit of time,

between the personal arrangements for the holiday and the purchase of the gifts - becomes challenging and visiting the physical stores has become a difficult task to the point of being almost impossible.

As a result, over the years, more and more consumers began to adopt the gifts that can be ordered with fast delivery to the recipient's home, purchase on online sites that save us from physically visiting the stores and standing in line at the cash registers or even placing an order in the application as a digital voucher sent directly to the recipient's email or phone number.

And it seems that the Israelis have become addicted to convenience: the purchase at any time of the day (or night), without leaving the house, using the personal phone that is next to us in any case, the wide variety of gifts and experiences that do not require effort for them and the multitude of areas offered that make it possible to find a gift for almost anyone according to their hobbies and interests - All these, brought down the Israelis in captivity - convenience wins.

Such is also the gift application BUYME, which conducted a festive study on holiday gift buying habits and discovered data, some of which are surprising.

An increase in the shadow of inflation (and not of prices)

From the findings of the research conducted by Buyme, a continuous increase in the amounts that Israelis invest in Passover gifts is evident.

Among the private sector, the average total gift in the app is NIS 366 with an increase of NIS 8 from the average in 2022. This is compared to a decrease in the purchase amount for a gift in offline stores (according to data from another survey).

The leading city in buying gifts for the holiday so far is Herzliya with an average value of NIS 386 per gift, immediately after it, in second place, is Tel Aviv with an average of NIS 379 per gift.

And in third place, Haifa with an average of NIS 361 per gift.

Acre is in eighth place with an average amount for a gift worth about NIS 260.

Young people are also investing

The research also shows that it is the young people who invest less in holiday gifts than the adults, and the age group that invests the highest amount in a holiday gift on Passover is the 45-54 age group with an average gift value of NIS 371.

After him are the 25-34 year olds with an average gift of NIS 368, an increase of NIS 10 from 2022.

After them on the list: the 35-44 age group with an average of 360 NIS, the 65+ age group with 358 NIS and the 54 year olds close the list -64 with NIS 355.

It was surprising to discover that even the youngest (18-24) who are "at the bottom" of the investor table, spend an average amount that exceeds NIS 350.

What are the most popular gifts for Passover 2023?

Also this year,

most of the gifts that people bought for their relatives were gifts from the culinary field

(about 26% of the total number of gifts).

The second most popular gift in the list of requested gifts with about 20% of the buyers, is a gift from the fashion field.

Immediately after the most leading fields, culinary and fashion, standing in the third places and onwards, gifts from the field of home design (17%), gifts related to extreme experiences (15%) or from the field of health and wellness (14%) and the remainder, purchase gifts from the fields of culture (such as tickets for plays and shows) or practical workshops.

Who was treated to a gift worth NIS 1,200?

Among the business sector, it appears that the start-up companies give their employees gifts with an average value of NIS 666, an increase of NIS 131 from last year's Passover - and we wonder how the significant increase in the gift amount this year (about 25%) manages with the difficulty of attracting investments?

The large high-tech companies give an average gift value of NIS 549, an increase of NIS 33 on average from Passover 2022.

Similar to last year's Passover holiday, the leading sector is joint accounting and law firms, with an average gift value of NIS 650.

The record holder of the gifts in the application is a company in the real estate sector, which gave its employees gifts worth NIS 1,200.

A surprise in the business sector

The distribution of gifts in the business sector is surprising:

49% chose a general BUYME that combines a variety of brands and experiences, thus allowing employees to choose the nature of the gift themselves.

And those who chose a specific field were distributed as follows: 32% chose fashion brands, 10% gave gifts from the culinary field, 5% specifically chose gifts of home products, 2% spas and hotels and 1% of the gift recipients chose wellness and health.
