They saw a niche in the world of gaming and are preparing to be a 'Neo Bank'

2023-04-09T23:28:33.864Z

N1u is the fintech founded by three Argentines that aims to "revolutionize the finances" of the under 25s

When Facundo Corsi began his activity in the technology industry more than seven years ago, he did not imagine that he would end up undertaking in the fintech world to create a "

super app" that seeks to compete with Mercado Pago

and the rest of the digital wallets and become a one of the first "neo banks" in Argentina.

However, he found a niche in the

gaming

segment , which became an opportunity.

The gaming industry globally moves between

US$300 and US$400 million a year

.

"There are already close to 9 million who, in one way or another, are related to the gaming sector, be it the gamer, who plays many hours a day, or the occasional gamer who plays with a cell phone. But it is a universe of 9 million people who are transacting in this universe, where there are precisely no financial tools aimed at this sector," Corsi said in dialogue with

Clarín.

"We found that

seven out of 10 players do not have access to a credit card

. We found it incredible that there are still so many young people outside of the financial system and that is why we are convinced that N1u is not only going to change the way young people interact with finances, but it is also going to revolutionize the region”.

The app is aimed at the general public, but with a focus on the sub25: "There are no tools that have been targeted exclusively for this sector. By 2027, it is estimated that all young people in the world will be gamers. That is why N1u is a solution thought of today's consumption, but which has a long-term projection".

After several months of "testing" in "friends and family" mode, the N1u app will be available to the general public starting this week.

It will offer a menu that includes everything from

transfers between wallets, payment of services, to the purchase and sale of cryptocurrencies.

In addition, since it is aimed at an audience that is closely related to esports, it will offer a loyalty program based precisely on gamification.

"We also came out with

gamer recharges

: where users will be able to recharge PlayStation, XBox, Steam directly from the app," said Corsi, who announced that in the next two months they will include the "Buy Now Pay Later" functionality, as it is known to the option to

"quotate"

purchases made from the app, without the need to use a credit card.

They will also launch

"microloans."

The expectation of N1u is to quickly scale in number of users.

"We hope to reach between half a million and 600,000 downloads before the end of the year, with 40% activation; that is, users who use the app regularly."

On the expansion map, this app plans to land in two other markets in the region in the next twelve months: Colombia and Mexico.

At an adverse time for the global financing of this type of company, Corsi highlighted that the initial investment was made with their own capital, and that only after three years will they think about going out to look for private investors.

"We see ourselves as a fintech, but if we manage to grow at the rate we expect, in a short time we will be able to have everything that a bank offers," she said.
