Harsh criticism of Cristina from a former official "who did not work"

2023-05-01T22:02:52.185Z

In his new book, Matías Kulfas explains the reasons for the economic and political 'failure' of the Frente de Todos.

After being displaced from the government, one of the former officials "who did not work", Matías Kulfas, takes revenge.

On May 19, he will present

"A Peronism for the 21st Century"

at the Book Fair , a 223-page work

in which he dispatches harsh criticism of Cristina Kirchner

, without apologizing to the president, Alberto Fernández, who appointed him to head the Ministry of Productive Development.

Kulfas was fired in June 2022,

in the midst of a tussle with hard-line Kirchnerism and Cristina herself

over the freezing of energy rates and the delays in the construction of the Néstor Kirchner gas pipeline.

In his resignation letter,

the former official spoke of "exasperating internship" and "disastrous subsidies."

In his new book, Kulfas recalls that one of the challenges was "

getting out of the deranged system of energy subsidies that has governed our country for two decades

, which has an enormous fiscal cost, is socially unfair, centralist, anti-federal and pro-rich , and that should embarrass any Peronist militant or official".

The objective of the writing is more comprehensive and compares the different stages of Peronism, from its origins to the management of the Frente de Todos, which had "a promising start", but which led to "a political and government crisis that once again generated

anxiety and frustration in 2022.

"

On this issue, Kulfas blames Cristina because although she "did not govern,

she did not allow the government's action to be fully deployed

, or in any case she put up serious obstacles that Fernández did not want or could not counteract."

Matías Kulfas will present his latest book with strong criticism of Kirchnerism at the Book Fair.

Kulfas is an economist and university professor.

He held different positions during the first Kirchner governments and became close to Fernández during the presidency of Mauricio Macri.

In 2016 he published

"Los tres kirchnerismos"

, considered the "cursed book" by the Vice President and sectors around her.

The former official, now, once again reiterates the economic problems that were generated in the Cristina governments.

"

The comparisons between classic Peronism and Kirchnerism are eloquent

: both had a strong initial inflationary impulse, but Perón faced this problem and reduced it significantly in his last years of government. Kirchnerism did not finish shaping a response to such a problem and

ended its cycle with inflation 7 times higher than the one it received

(period 2003 and 2015)", says Kulfas.

In his new book, which

Clarín

had exclusive access to, the former minister makes an extensive historical and economic review and postulates the need to modernize Peronism, to face "the battle for a development that is in tune with today's world and confronts the myth of adjustment eternal".

Without losing sight of that focus, between pages 125 and 146 he devotes himself to "interpreting the causes and consequences

of the political failure of a government coalition

that did not achieve the necessary cohesion in its operation."

Says Kulfas says that Cristina and Alberto formed

"an odd couple"

and that "shortly after the start of the government, internal questions began."

He also recalls that "already in October 2020, CFK was talking about officials who do not work" and that "the criticisms did not come from alternative proposals, neither in the programmatic field nor from the contribution of new cadres to the management."

Even more: "Before internal questions,

there were blockades and struggles to preserve the symbolic capital

of the Kirchner and CFK government periods, in contexts completely different from those of then, and to preserve power in the leadership of Peronism," he points out. .

It also points to the President, because

"he never tried to openly dispute the leadership of CFK

, he systematically refused to generate an alternative political and territorial structure and ceded the government spaces with the greatest territorial ties (Anses and PAMI) to leaders linked to CFK and Máximo Kirchner ".

Cristina is not forgiven

for her "lack of self-critical gaze"

and her "

self-referential narrative

in which 2015 seemed to be the moment of maximum popular happiness and the best income distribution, omitting that, in that happy world, many of the supposed beneficiaries of That model voted for Macri".

But above all, he criticizes the distancing of Kirchnerism from the ruling coalition.

"It was not the first time that Peronism had to manage a crisis -Kulfas completes-, but a sector did choose to disengage from its course and its consequences."
