Tennet has introduced a brand new tender process to connect 40 gigawatts of new wind capacity produced in the North Sea to land by 2030.
Until now, these contracts were awarded one after the other.
Tennet has decided to launch a call for tenders for ten lots, ie as many wind farms to be connected to the earth, for a total amount of around 5 billion euros for the connection alone.
In March, Nexans' Italian rival Prysmian announced the signing of a 1.8 billion euro contract with Tennet to connect two wind farms in the Dutch North Sea.
