Is the earth shaking? 50 Carrefour branches were launched this morning in Israel - voila! money

About a year after the signing of the agreement between Electra Consumer Products and the French retail chain Carrefour, and after a long period of preparations, construction, regulation, standards and approvals, closure of active branches, renovations and an investment of NIS 250 million, 50 branches of the food giant in Israel opened this morning, and another 30-50 branches are expected to open by the end of this year.

After a visit byPrime Minister Benjamin Netanyahuand Economy Minister Nir Barkat last night, the official launch ceremony was held this morning, in the presence of senior international executives, alongside senior local management: Alexander Bomfred, CEO of Carrefour Group, Philip Houza, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Carrefour Group, Patrick Laspergo, CEO of Carrefour International, Uri Kilstein, CEO of Carrefour Israel, Zvika Schwimmer, CEO of Electra Consumption, Danny and Mikey Salkind, controlling shareholders of Electra and Eyal Eli, chairman of the workers' committee.

The branches open in three formats depending on the regions in which they are located: Carrefour City (the neighborhood stores), Carrefour Market and Carrefour Hyper (discount stores), and the prices in the chain will differ on the same products depending on the format.

Carrefour Online: You don't have to visit branches

In addition, in parallel with the launch of physical branches throughout the country, the Carrefour Online website was launched. In the first stage, the site will operate in the gradual opening of online distribution areas in order to emphasize a good level of service, and later the nationwide distribution will expand to additional distribution areas.

The site was built in cooperation and will be operated by the "Online Retail Partnership", which is experienced in operating a super online service throughout the country for several years (Quik Super Online Service). Promise tens of percent savings

In the chain's branches in Israel, you can find a variety of more than 1,000 products of the house brand Carrefour out of tens of thousands of products that exist and are sold in European markets. The house brand products are offered in about 82 categories, including: food products, organic products, toiletries and cleaning products and non-food products of European quality and unbeatable prices.

In a comparison conducted by the chain for about 30 different leading products, it was found that the basket of products consisting only of house brands is about 60% cheaper than a basket of products comprised of parallel products from other leading brands.

Our reservations to the above comparison: it is possible that the price for the corresponding carrier product was taken from the most expensive brand and that the discrepancy does not accurately reflect reality. We estimate that in practice, if you adopt all the products in the comparison cart against other products you purchase, not necessarily the most expensive, you will discover a gap of about 20-30%, which is not insignificant anyway.
