If we had to sum up the life and career of Virginie Melaine-Christensen, the new Country Manager of Adyen France, in a single adjective, it would be "international". This Breton wants to be open to the varied cultures of the world, which she attended throughout her studies, including at the EU Business School, an international private business school. Virginie Melaine-Christensen could have made a career in humanitarian work, her journey having led her to work in Sarajevo for a year and a half for the European Commission, and to collaborate with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to help refugees. It was in London, on the quieter banks of the Thames, that her training as an international chartered accountant continued.
She spent a total of twenty years in the British capital, and worked for internationally known companies such as Air France UK, Danone and Burberry. It was also on the occasion of the implementation of a new payment system for the luxury house, in boutiques and on the Internet, that Virginie Melaine-Christensen began her collaboration with Adyen. Having seen the potential of this field, she decided to increase her knowledge in payment systems: "I sensed that this sector was going to change," says Adyen France's Country Manager. She joined the fintech in 2017 at the headquarters in Amsterdam. She spent six years there developing new payment systems and discovering Batavian culture.
Adyen: payment solutions adapted to each company
Thanks to her expertise and knowledge, Virginie Melaine-Christensen plans to launch new products and continue the development of the fintech Adyen in France, based on her fintech values, namely innovation, transparency, ethics and people. While Adyen develops payment solutions for companies, it also helps them in their donation campaigns to associations with its Adyen Giving service: "We double each donation and devote, in addition, 1% of our annual income to philanthropy," says the Country Manager of Adyen France. Proud that Adyen has been awarded the Great Place to Work label, Virgine Melaine-Christensen is launching a major recruitment campaign in France this year, initially focusing on sales forces.
