2023-05-29T12:10:57.761Z

Highlights: The sixth month of the year will be marked by increases in transport (subways, buses and trains of the AMBA), in the fees of private schools, in private medicine and in fuel, among others. As of June 1, an 8.6% increase in public transport fares in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA) will take effect. Starting Monday, June 5, the ticket will jump $7 and will cost $74, while the Premetro will be worth $26.

In the month that the Christmas bonus is charged, consumers should also take into account a battery of increases that will hit their pockets.

A few days before the beginning of June, along with the prospect of the collection of the Christmas bonus, consumers should also take into account the battery of increases in goods and services that are already planned during that month.

It happens that in addition to the inflation of the "changuito" or the basic consumption inherent in the food basket, the sixth month of the year will be marked by increases in transport (subways, buses and trains of the AMBA), in the fees of private schools, in private medicine and in fuel, among others.

  • 1. Public transport in the AMBA. As of June 1, an 8.6% increase in public transport fares in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA) will take effect. This is the third application of a new monthly update formula that will be in force until July and is adjusted on the basis of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of Greater Buenos Aires published by INDEC.

According to this modality, the minimum bus ticket in the AMBA from June, will cost $ 46.35 and the train will range between $ 22.51 and $ 29.12, depending on the line.

On the other hand, the company Subterráneos de Buenos Aires S.E. (SBASE) confirmed the new increase in the subway fare. Starting Monday, June 5, the ticket will jump $7 and will cost $74, while the Premetro will be worth $26.

  • 2. Private schools. In February, the Ministry of Economy added private schools to the Fair Prices program. The agreement consisted of a school basket with a price cap and they also negotiated a cap on the increase in fees. But the inflationary escalation forced to renegotiate these increases and so in June the fees of the schools will increase 11.1% in the City of Buenos Aires and 7.5% in Greater Buenos Aires.
  • 3. Prepaid As it happens month after month, in June the prepaid will also have an increase. On this occasion, the increase will be 5.49% that will be applied equally to all users, without differentiated increases according to income, as happened last April.

  • 4. Fuels. After the renewal of the price agreement with the Government, the oil companies will apply in June an average increase of 4% in the gasoline and diesel they sell throughout the country.

The pattern of increases set by the Fair Prices program was agreed between the Ministry of Commerce and the companies YPF, Axion (PAE), Shell (Raízen) and Puma (Trafigura). The 4% increases are also expected to be repeated in the following months, July and August.

  • 5. Internet, cellular telephony and cable: Starting next month, monthly increases of 4.5% are added – retroactive to May 2023 – for postpaid or mixed plans for mobile telephony, Internet access services, fixed telephony and cable or satellite television. Then, the increase of 4.5% will be repeated every month in a percentage of up to 4.5% over the values updated to the last day of the previous month.

  • 6. Rentals. It is not for all tenants but for those who have to sign a new rental contract or renew it they should know that they will have to face increases of 100% per year in the values to be paid, according to the variation of the Index of Lease Contracts (ICL), carried out by the Central Bank (BCRA) that contemplates a mix between the increases in inflation and wages
  • 7. Fees. In May, the government removed subsidies on energy tariffs for those users who were within the highest income bracket. Therefore, from June consumers must pay the plen rate
  • 8, Domestic workers: According to the update, announced by the National Commission on Work in Private Homes, three stages of increase have been applied to the March salary. The scheme was as follows; in April, there was an increase of 14%; in May, 7 per cent; and in June, they will receive another 6% increase.
