A few days after Casino, which is preparing to sell up to 180 hypermarkets and supermarkets to Intermarché, Auchan in turn rationalizes its store park. The northern retailer will sell 7 of its 234 French supermarkets to competitors. At a central works council meeting in Lille on 25 May, he detailed the list of these stores, which employ 273 people. The specialized magazine LSA revealed that these are the supermarkets of Montdidier (Somme), Ferrières-en-Bray (Seine-Maritime), Saverne (Bas-Rhin), Aurillac (Cantal), L'Haÿ-les-Roses (Val-de-Marne), Rambouillet and Les Mureaux (Yvelines).
"These supermarkets are no longer in line with the commercial project of the brand despite the action plans implemented, explains a spokesman for Auchan France. They have not returned to profitability. " The distributor, who mentions some stores located in very competitive areas, ensures to have "leads of buyers".
