Onyx, action automation solution
Alchimie Data Solutions was founded in 2016. Olivier Siguré, its co-founder, has been a data processing engineer for more than 20 years. After working for large groups and then setting up his own business, he now wants to contribute to improving practices in data management. This is how he came up with the idea of Onyx, a solution for automating tasks within data projects, which still require many repetitive and thankless actions, a totally anachronistic reality.
In 2018, the idea seduced Suez, which acquired it and accompanied the maturation of the software. In 2019, Alchimie Data Solutions was awarded a prize by IMT Starter (incubator of Télécom SudParis, Institut Mines-Télécom Business School and ENSIIE) that provides legal and technological support to mature and concretize their project. Their credo, almost philosophical, is thus established: focus human work on added value by saving energy and resources, often considered abusively unlimited in the field of data management.

Working towards energy savings
With Onyx, Alchimie Data Solutions allows its customers not only to automate tasks and reduce repetition, but also and above all to reduce their weight and consumption, which can be considerable in databases that sometimes contain millions of rows. Concretely, reading an Excel file with a Java program can require several GB of memory when it requires only a few tens of MB with Onyx, an order of magnitude divided by 100! Another major area of resource saving is database optimization, often through simple tricks such as character set limitation, which reduces the allocated storage space effortlessly and without depriving yourself of any information.
It is time to finally become aware of the energy and ecological issues in the field of IT and to act to change user behavior. Over the past 15 years, the systematic response to the needs related to the emergence of Big Data and the Cloud has been to align more and more servers, without questioning the environmental consequences of these behaviors. Alchimie Data Solutions is betting on changing this approach in a sector that does not care enough, while it is the major issue of our time.

In addition to its solution, Alchimie Data Solutions also markets turnkey data projects and third-party application maintenance (TMA). Its consulting services are positioned between ERP, WMS and CRM. Its founders support a quality-oriented approach, which implies fair prices.
Since its creation, Alchimie Data Solutions has experienced strong growth. After making its solution easier to implement thanks to feedback from its users, the company now aims to deploy its technology as widely as possible and continue its mission of raising awareness of energy savings in the field of data management.
