As happened with companies last year, and due to the alarming fall in the Central Bank's international reserves, the Government seeks to minimize the demand for dollars by the provinces that must pay debt in the US currency.

According to official sources, from now on those provinces that have deposits in dollars must take care of their own debts. In this group would be, for example, Córdoba, Chubut, Salta and the City of Buenos Aires.

As with the companies' negotiable obligations and bank loans, the Central Bank could give the provinces access to 40% of the dollars needed to cancel their commitments. But the other 60% will have to face it with their own funds or they will have to restructure their bonds.

In any case, the government let it be known that they will not allow any provincial default, in the event that there are governors who do not get dollars or reschedule their obligations. "They're going to be helped," they said.
