It was after Wednesday he had to ground two of his 12 planes for not accessing the Central Bank dollars to pay his suppliers abroad. In two days, more than 30 flights were affected.

The Government approved to the airline Flybondi a part of the dollars that the company had been requesting to acquire from the Central Bank to, in turn, with those currencies pay its suppliers abroad. As part of that delay in payments, both Wednesday and yesterday the airline had to ground two of its 12 planes and affected more than 30 flights: 22 canceled and 10 rescheduled, between Wednesday, Thursday and tomorrow Friday.

Now, the airline reported that it will resume "shortly" the programming of those two planes.

"Flybondi informs that it obtained a partial approval from SIRASE to transfer payments abroad which allows it to partially comply with the leasing of its current fleet. After several days of work in conjunction with ANAC (National Civil Aviation Administration) the two aircraft that were not operating due to the delay in payment, will resume the programming shortly," the company said in a statement.

Flybondi had requested to acquire 11 million dollars, officially listed, to cover its expenses with foreign suppliers during the months of April and May. The request was rejected by the Commerce Secretariat, whose head, Matias Tombolini, said Wednesday that they urged the airline to cancel that order and reformulate it for another, of US $ 6.3 million.

From Flybondi they assured that the claim of 11 million dollars to pay abroad is still in force, now swelled with the obligations that begin to accumulate in June.

"The airline awaits the rest of the pending approvals to fulfill its other specialized services that it must contract abroad and that are essential to be able to operate," the Flybondi statement added. "It is important to highlight that the airline industry needs a more agile approval methodology to be able to comply with passengers and suppliers and avoid a situation similar to the one that occurred in the coming months," he said.

The airline, the statement added, today has 12 aircraft, 1300 direct employees "and generates more than 21,000 indirect jobs." It currently holds 21% market share of domestic flights, and also covers three routes to Brazil, with a 13% share in that destination. "According to its growth and investment plan, it aims to reach a fleet of up to 20 aircraft by 2023, add at least 6 new national and international routes and generate more than 600 new jobs," the company added.

The statement also refers to the economic impact of Flybondi as a dynamizer of the economy, an argument that is also often used by its state competitor Aerolineas Argentinas. To that argument, FB added the "low cost" ingredient that allows a part of the passengers (those who buy the tickets well in advance) to access lower fares.

"Flybondi not only contributes directly to the record tourism indicators that our country is showing. A local airline is also, and mainly, a social and economic actor that drives the development of regional economies, generates direct and indirect employment and expands the transport network at the federal level, boosting economic activity. In addition, low cost democratize access to the plane generating inclusion and opportunities, "said the company.
