Rape, sexual assault and psychological violence: these are the accusations against the actor Russell Brand, as revealed by a long investigation published this Saturday, September 16 by the Sunday Times, the Times, as well as the channel Channel 4. The actor and ex-companion of the singer Katy Perry, currently at the peak of his career, is accused by four women for facts between 2006 and 2013.

One woman accuses him of raping her in her Los Angeles home, while another claims to have been sexually assaulted during a three-month relationship, when she was still a high school student and 16 years old. All have also denounced dominant, abusive and predatory behaviour, which the actor but also presenter of BBC Radio 2 and Channel 4, refutes entirely.

Some time before the publication of this investigation, and the documentary broadcast on the channel 4, Russell Brand had published a video message on his account X to defend himself from the "very serious criminal charges" against him. "I received two extremely disturbing messages ... one from a mainstream TV station and the other from a newspaper, listing a litany of attacks... which I absolutely refute," it reads. "The relationships I've had have always been totally consensual," he continues.
Heroin and anti-vax
The comedian, recognizable by his tattoos, his long brown hair and his flirting with gothic, began his career as a comedian, before taking his first steps in television and cinema in the United Kingdom and the United States. Building his reputation on his repeated escapades, Russell Brand has long been addicted to alcohol and heroin. Married fourteen months to singer Katy Perry between 2010 and 2011, he is also known for boasting of his many female conquests.
In the mid-2010s, he posed as an anti-capitalist activist, advocating the "total revolution" and has recently multiplied conspiracy, anti-vaccine and anti-mainstream media remarks on his Youtube channel, followed by more than 6 million subscribers, or on his account X (ex-Twitter) to more than 11 million subscribers. He urges his audience to remain "awake" and "free" in the face of information disseminated in the traditional media. In 2014, in his book Revolution, he advocated "a radical redistribution of wealth", "the dismantling of multinationals" and the injection of a good dose of "spiritualism" into society.
During the #MeToo movement, Russell Brand said he had no regrets about his past sexual behavior, claiming to have had sex with several hundred women. Married since 2017 to Laura Gallagher, with whom he has two children, Russell Brand is currently touring the UK with his show "Russell Brand Bipolarisation".
